Commercial Proof

Capitec

One relationship. Two distinct transformation problems.

Motion One — Building Cloud Capability

Capitec was accelerating its move into cloud and working closely with AWS.

The technology was only part of the challenge. The bank also needed enough internal capability to execute the transformation without relying excessively on expensive external expertise.

I worked across cloud and learning stakeholders to understand the capability gaps and connect Pluralsight to the transformation objectives.

Together, we shaped a structured development motion designed around the skills teams actually needed to execute the cloud strategy.

The Relationship

That first motion gave me more than an opportunity.

It gave me access to the organisation, relationships with different stakeholders and a better understanding of how Capitec approached technology capability and risk.

And that exposed a completely different problem.

Motion Two — License to Innovate

Capitec had an internal License to Innovate programme — a gateway designed to ensure people building technology that could affect customers had the broader capabilities required to do it responsibly.

A developer might understand their own application and architecture but still have gaps around areas such as secure development, design principles or other disciplines required to move something towards production.

The challenge was broader than cloud training.

I helped shape how structured learning could support that programme across different technical disciplines — creating a second commercial motion from a different enterprise problem.

Expansion isn't asking the customer what else they want to buy. It's understanding them well enough to see the next problem.
